The problem

By the time a new business shows up on a lead list, it already has an accountant.

Most B2B data providers refresh monthly, resell the same aggregated file to everyone, and pad it with companies that registered three years ago. You end up cold-calling businesses that made their decisions long before you dialled.

A business that filed on Tuesday has no accountant, no insurance, no payroll provider, no bank account and no website. It is the only moment in a company's life when every one of those decisions is still open.

That window is about seven days wide. JustFiled exists to put you inside it - one state, done properly, every single Monday.

How it works

Three steps, and none of them are yours.

  1. We pull Monday morning

Straight from the Colorado Secretary of State's official open-data registry - the primary source, not a resold aggregate.

  2. We clean it properly

Dissolved and delinquent entities removed. Placeholder and keyboard-mash shell filings stripped out. Names and addresses normalised. Deduped against every week we have ever sent, so you never pay for the same lead twice.

  3. You get a CSV that opens and works

In your inbox Monday morning. Import straight into your CRM, filter by industry, city or ZIP, and start calling.

What is in every row

Fifteen columns. No filler.

The business

Trading name, entity type in plain English (not registry codes), exact filing date, principal street address, city, state and ZIP, plus a flag for whether the principal address is inside Colorado.

The registered agent

Agent name and address. On owner-operated businesses this is very often the founder themselves at their own address - which is the most direct line you will get.

An industry tag

We classify each filing into one of 20 sectors from its trading name. About a quarter of filings carry a confident tag - the rest are named things like "Heartprints LLC" and we mark them Unclassified rather than guess.

A link back to the source

Every row carries its state entity ID and a direct link to the official record, so you can verify any lead in one click.

An honest note about the industry tag. It is derived from the business name, so it catches "Summit Roofing LLC" and misses "Heartprints LLC". We would rather show you a quarter of the list correctly labelled than label the whole thing badly and waste your calls.

Pricing

One state, priced like it.

National providers charge $299 to $799 a month for volume you will never call. This is one state, cleaned properly, at a price a single closed deal covers many times over.

Questions

The things people ask first

Where does this data actually come from?

The Colorado Secretary of State publishes business entity registrations as open data, explicitly in the public domain. We pull from that official source directly. We are not reselling somebody else's aggregated file, and we are not scraping a site that does not want to be scraped.

Could I not just download this myself for free?

Yes, genuinely - and if you have the time, you should. The raw file is 3.1 million rows going back to 1864, it contains dissolved companies with the word "Dissolved" jammed into the business name, it has no industry classification, and it will happily hand you the same lead every week forever. What you pay for is the hour a week of cleaning, the dedupe against previous sends, and it arriving without you remembering to do it.

How fresh is it really?

The state refreshes its dataset nightly. We pull Monday morning and send the same morning, so the oldest lead in your file is seven days old and the newest is about one day old.

Do you include phone numbers and email addresses?

No, and we will not. The registry does not publish them, and enriching business filings with scraped or purchased contact details is exactly where this category gets legally and ethically messy. You get the business name, the address and the registered agent - which for owner-operated businesses is usually the founder at their own address. Direct mail and door-knocking work extremely well on this data.

Can I use this for credit or employment screening?

No. This is public record data sold for B2B marketing only. It is not a consumer report and must not be used for any purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act - employment, tenant, credit or insurance eligibility decisions. That restriction is in the Terms and we enforce it.

Which other states can I get?

Colorado today. Colorado was chosen deliberately: its registry is genuinely open, published as public domain, and refreshed nightly, which many states are not. More states will follow the same standard - subscribers get first refusal when they launch.

What if the data is not useful to me?

Take the free sample first and check it against your own market before you pay anything. If you subscribe and it does not work, email us and we will refund the current month and cancel. No forms, no retention script.

Acceptable use

What this data is, and what it is not.

Intended uses

  • B2B marketing and prospecting
  • Direct mail to new businesses
  • Territory and market research
  • CRM enrichment for business accounts

Prohibited uses

  • Employment screening of any kind
  • Tenant or housing decisions
  • Credit eligibility or underwriting decisions
  • Insurance eligibility determinations
  • Any other FCRA-regulated purpose
  • Resale or redistribution of the raw file

JustFiled is not a consumer reporting agency and this data is not a consumer report. Accepting these terms is a condition of every subscription and of downloading the free sample.

From the team

Why we built this

We kept meeting accountants and insurance brokers with the same complaint: the lead lists they bought were stale, national, and sold to twenty competitors at once. Meanwhile the single best moment to reach a business - the week it comes into existence - is sitting in a public database that updates every night and almost nobody uses well.

So we built the thing we would want: one state, pulled from the primary source, cleaned honestly, and small enough that we can tell you exactly what is in it and exactly what is not. If it stops being useful, cancel in one click and we will not chase you.

If you want to ask something before you buy, email us. A person reads it.
